Today is the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. So much has changed in this world. The world we live in now, is not the same world I remember 15 years ago. Those of us who experienced that horrific day can recall where, and what we were doing when we heard the news.

I was 20 years old, and working at the mall in Melbourne Florida. My sister called me, and told me we had been attacked. I was so confused, how could this be? What was going on? Everyone working that day gathered together in the center of the mall,  we closed down our shops and people made phone calls, we turned on the radio in hopes to hear more information, (no smart phones in 2001.) Finally the mall closed for security reasons, and we all went home to find the most horrific, haunting images one would ever see in their life.

Today 15 years later, as I sit with my 9 year old, and I teach her about these events, I can’t help but be saddened that the evil of these people took away a world that she would never know.

In the footage below, Caroline Dries, (an NYU student at the time,) Cemented in history, the exact moment, and the fears she had on that day. It is hard to watch the video, but we must never forget. We must never forget what we are fighting for, and we must not forget the over 3,000 lives lost on September 11th, 2001.
