3yrs Later The Horrific Event Is Discovered That Caused The Disappearance Of An Entire Family

In 2010, an entire family in Fallbrook, California has disappeared without a trace.

A horrific event happened when the entire McStay family had gone missing without a trace. They left no notes, no information and had not spoken to any family members or friends. They were reported missing by the patriarch’s brother, Mike McStay.

Over the course of the investigation, police continued to find chilling clues as to their whereabouts but never seemed to get close enough.

Entire family of McStay went missing. Joseph, Summer, Gianni and Joseph Jr. were nowhere to be found.

His brother Mike knew something was wrong when he was unable to get in contact with his brother Joseph. So he went to their house and forced his way through the door. What he found was terrifying. There was a carton of eggs on the counter, a bowl of popcorn in the living room and the family dog playing in the backyard. It had seemed as if the entire family disappeared right from their spots on the couch. Mike immediately contacted the police.

During the investigation, they found out that since February 4th, no one had seen the family but their car was spotted on February 8th at the Mexican border. The police found a clip of a group crossing the border into Mexico whose appearance were similar to the McStays.

The missing persons’ cases died down a bit due to insufficient information. Every once in a while the police got tips from Mexican locals saying that had seen the McStays in Mexico. This led the police to conclude that the McStays had simply left the United States for a new life in Mexico. However, no one in their extended family thought that was true.

Later, Joseph McStay’s business partner; Chase Merritt, came forward to tell the police that his wife, Summer McStay, would have something to do with the family’s disappearance. According to Merrit, McStay was feared that his wife has been poisoning him. This theory was also thrown out by the extended McStay family. The family rejected this idea, refusing to believe that Summer would have killed her own children.

A big break came three years later on November 11, 2013, when a motorcyclist discovered two shallow graves with the remains of four humans near Victorville, California. Two days later, it was confirmed that the remains of the two adults belonged to Joseph and Summer. Medical examiners from San Bernardino County determined that all four had been killed by blunt-force trauma to their heads. Authorities believe they had been beaten to death.

With this horrifying news, it disproves any theories that the family had been killed by Summer.

Further, they reexamined they family’s car and discovered Merritt’s DNA all over the vehicle. They then postulated that it was Merritt that had parked their car in the shopping center to throw off investigators.

The police began puzzle out what had happened. It appeared as if Chase Merritt had something to do with their deaths. He was the one that had tried to pin the blame on someone else. He had also taken out large sums of money from Joseph’s bank account only days before the family’s disappearance.

Merritt is currently detained and trial is still process. If convicted, he could be sentenced to death. Until now, case was not yet closed. There were delays in the case due to health issues of the accused.
