The Coca Cola Bottling Company is offering two new soft drinks for it’s fans. Coke Plus and Canada Dry Plus. Coke has been working on these products for years and the idea behind them is to actually make you healthier. The drinks contain no sugar and no calories but does offer you 5 additional grams of dietary fiber that helps regulate your bowel movements.
It seems like Coca Cola is always coming out with a new and improved version of everyone’s favorite soda. Whether they are reducing the calories or caffeine or adding a flavor, there is something for everyone.
Their newest addition to the popular beverage is deemed to make it the brand’s healthiest soda yet.
“We’re looking to add functional beverages,” CEO James Quincy said on a call with media on Tuesday. The company is rolling out Coca-Cola Plus and Canada Dry Plus as part of a “fast-growing segment where ingredients are added to beverages to address specific dietary needs.”
This new drink hit the Japanese market back in February as part of the company’s mission to add more “functional beverages” to their lineup. Apparently that means bodily functions, as well.
In addition to the added fiber, the company claims that “Drinking one Coca-Cola Plus per day with food will help suppress fat absorption and help moderate the levels of triglycerides in the blood after eating.”
The company reportedly spent more than a decade researching and developing the drink.
Now, I have never heard of anyone drinking soda for it’s health benefits and I admit I am a bit skeptical about the interest in the soda. I can remember one of the first diet sodas to hit the market. It’s name was tab and it was one of the most putrid drinks I have ever had the misfortune of trying. How about you? Is this something you would try?
