70yo Refuses To Let Her Age Define Her, Runs 7 Marathons In 7 Days [WATCH]

Running over 70 marathons in her lifetime, this 70-year-old woman is undoubtedly inspiring and age-defying, as she continues to challenge herself to new heights — recently accomplishing a quest of 7 marathons, over 7 days, in 7 different countries.

Kansas City resident, Chau Smith, redefines stereotypes as she completed the international Triple Seven Quest earlier this year.

In celebration of her 70th birthday, Chau Smith took a trek around the globe, running seven intensive marathons in seven different countries: Australia, Singapore, Egypt, Amsterdam, Netherlands, New York, Chile, and Antarctica.

Chau ran alongside eight other runners, with only six of them completing the full marathon. Certainly, Chau was one of the runners that completed the marathon in its entirety.

Long distance running is not an easy feat, and takes years of training. Chau admits to practicing mindfulness and focuses on calming breathing techniques when she feels discomfort, using the power of her mind to persevere.

“I always try to train in my mind the good things. So even when I’m really in pain, I’m able to think about something else positive,” Chau states, directing her attention to the tranquillity of nature: “the waterfalls, the streams, the lake.”

At 70-years-old, Chau Smith is an inspiration to all of us, in that, she lives life to the fullest, not allowing her age to place limitations on the life she chooses to live and the goals she wants to accomplish.

Through her strength and determination, Chau proves that no challenge is too large and she can do anything she sets her mind to.

Chau Smith plans to apply to the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest person to run seven marathons in seven days.
