Noor Salman, the wife of terrorist Omar Mateen, who killed 49 and wounded 58 others during the Pulse Nightclub attack will be represented by a Public Defender. What does this mean? Well, it means that taxpayers will be forced to foot the legal bill for Ms. Salman as she faces charges regarding her involvement in one of the worst terrorist attacks to take place on American soil. She is facing charges of obstructing justice and providing support to a terrorist. In addition to the legal fees paid for by John Q. Taxpayer, Salman’s attorneys also got money to pay a computer expert to sort through various devices of Ms. Salman in relation to her case.
“The Orlando Sentinel reports that the government-funded computer forensics expert would be responsible for sifting through three computers, four cell phones, multiple flash drives, an iPad Mini, 12 discs, and a PDF file containing 38,000 pages of data from Salman’s Facebook account”t..Breitbart.com
There are those who will make the argument that Ms. Salman is entitled to the best defense possible as afforded under the law, but at what point is a line drawn, and why should John Q. Taxpayer be forced to foot the entire bill? The judge in the case likely figured if he didn’t allow Ms. Salman to get the funding for her defense from hardworking Americans, her attorneys would use this as a basis for appeal should a conviction be the end result.
This appeasement of terrorists is also taking place in Canada. Recently, terrorist Omar Khadr, who threw a grenade during a firefight with U.S. forces which resulted in the death of U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Speer and blinded Solider Layne Morris has just been awarded $8 million dollars because Khadr, who was detained in Gitmo, had his rights violated, or so the claim goes. Layne Morris and the family of U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Speer have a multi-million-dollar judgment against Omar Khadr, but they will likely never see a dime of that money.
The terrorist attacks of September 11th changed the United States of America forever. It was a turning point in how we now fight terrorists and should serve as an example of why we can’t afford financially or politically to appease terrorist organizations. That mistake was made under the Obama Administration when we released 5 terrorists back to their homeland in exchange for Bowe Berghdahl, the traitor who is now on trial for leaving his post in Afghanistan and getting several members of his unit injured and killed when they went looking for him.
Terrorism spreads because the terrorists see weakness and exploit it whereever they can. Such is the case with Omar Khadr receiving $8 million dollars, the prisoner exchange of Bowe Berghdahl, and now taxpayers having to foot the bill for the legal defense of terrorist sympathizer Noor Salman. Countries like Iran, who is the world’s largest state sponsor of terror see these occurrences of appeasement and laugh at the United States. However, now that Donald Trump is President the folks in Iran are likely not laughing too much. But Americans can not leave it up to one presidential administration to fight terrorism and its appeasement from the left. Vigilance both in terms of self defense and political activism is essential in making sure that these great United States of America remain safe, and that we send a clear message to terrorists that appeasement will not be forthcoming.
Winning the war against terrorism is a constant battle, and it is not a battle that can be won when we are paying top dollar of legal defense funds for terrorists or making horrible trades where terrorists receive a get-out-of-jail-free card because a U.S. Soldier left his post. When terrorism is rewarded, whether it be in the form of money, prisoner exchange, or political correctness, this demonstrates weakness not strength. There is a reason why Israel for example does not negotiate with terrorists. In most cases they kill them when warranted or, they are jailed for life. There really is no grey area, and it is Israel’s tough stance on terrorism which has saved countless Israeli lives.
