Clinton Campaign Manager Slams Sanders For Bringing Hillary’s Record into the Race

I read the first paragraph of this story several times to make sure I wasn’t misreading it.  But as I thought about it it really makes sense.  Why wouldn’t the same woman who considers herself above the law not consider the use of her past record as a dirty trick.  After all, she’s entitled.

On Wednesday, Robby Mooks, Hillary’s campaign manager appeared on “Andrea Mitchell Reports.”  He expressed disappointment in Bernie Sanders bringing her record into the campaign.  Sanders had the audacity to mention the fact that Hillary charged universities 200k for 45 minute speeches.  Mooks said this is the kind of personal attack Sanders promised he wouldn’t get into.  Am I missing something?

For most of America, character of the candidates matter.  As Hillary goes around the country criticizing the same people pumping tens of millions of dollars into her campaign, by suggesting that CEOs don’t deserve their high salaries or that they overcharge the average American, you have to wonder why her speaking salary, which is higher than any CEO makes per hour is off limits.  Come to think of it, maybe it’s not the same thing.  After all, either a CEO earns the money he gets or the shareholders toss his or her butt out into the street.

Here is an exchange between Mooks and Mitchell:

RM-“Well, first of all, I’m disappointed to see Bernie Sanders making these kind of negative personal attacks. This is something he pledged not to do. He said he was a different kind of politician. So it’s disappointing to see that.”

AM-“Well, it’s substantive, in that it’s, she’s been willing to take money from paid speeches and that is something that he would argue is really offensive to a lot of young voters.”

Not answering the question, Mook replied, “Well, look, I think young voters have a lot at stake in this election when you look at the Republican side, they’ve been talking about defunding Planned Parenthood, taking away the right for gays and lesbians to get married. They don’t believe in climate change, in fact, they, they, they fight efforts to do something about climate change.”

“Well, what about Bernie Sanders,” Mitchell asserted. “He is on your side, the same side as Hillary Clinton on all those issues.”
“Well, but the difference for young people and for all voters is the ability to get something done. Young voters care that we do take action on climate change. They care that we do protect the right to marry. And what that takes is someone in Washington who can breakthrough the gridlock and get something done. The problem with a lot of the proposals that Bernie Sanders has brought forward is they sound great on paper, but they can’t get done in Washington,” Mook argued. “So, what the young people I talk to who are so active on this campaign, they’re here because they know that Hillary can deliver real results for them.”

How can they possibly know Hillary can deliver on her promises?  She never has before in over 60 years.
