Do You Also Use This Popular Kitchen Gadget That Sliced Up This Woman’s Hand?

The NutriBullet blender started out as the infomercial wunderkind, and has become quite popular, perfectly timing its arrival to coincide with our earnest desire to start the day with a healthy smoothie. But when Nevada woman was excited to give her new trendy household appliance a full test run, something has gone terribly wrong.

American woman named Wendy Littlefield, from Henderson in Nevada, filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer Homeland Housewares for negligence.  She said was using her Magic Bullet NutriBullet 900 series machine to blend canned tomatoes and beans when it suddenly malfunctioned, causing severe damage to her right hand. The sharp spinning blades went flying and chopped up Littlefield’s right hand.

According to her lawsuit, she claims her injuries left her with nerve damage and cuts. She says Homeland Housewares should have known its machines were “unreasonably dangerous and defective when used for its intended use”.

Her lawsuit demands compensation, which she believes she is entitled to. These will come in addition to general damages for pain, suffering, emotional distress, and disfigurement.

Her husband Darryl is also getting involved in the lawsuit. Because of his wife’s injury, he asserts, their “marital association has been altered.”

He claims to have suffered “mental anguish” because he witness his wife’ horrific injury.

In her lawsuit, her attorneys at Abir Cohen Treyzon Salo, LLP, said she had incurred medical and hospital bills and will require further medical care for the injuries she sustained.

Her daughter Cambrie wrote on Facebook: “My mother’s life will never be the same, considering she will likely never be able to use her dominant hand again and she rides a roller coaster of never-ending pain and constant surgeries. This is a tragedy I hope no one else has to endure.”

“Within seconds, our lives have changed forever! Please share!” She added.

Some people complain that Littlefield is just trying to take advantage of the accident by milking the kitchen gadget company for all its worth. Accidents happen and machinery occasionally malfunctions, after all.
