Find Out How This Guy’s Lost Wallet Started a Yearly Drinking Tradition Going Back 14 Years

We’ve all lost a wallet before. It’s like a rite of passage. One minute, your wallet is safely stuffed in your pocket, and the next minute, you’re frantically slapping your thighs and ass, praying the sudden moment of panic was just a false alarm. You turn over everything in your house and tear apart your car but find nothing.

All is not lost, the world isn’t coming to an end, but replacing the contents of one’s wallet is undeniably tedious: New ID costs money and canceling credit cards is annoying.

Tim Burrows suffered a similar fate 14 years ago when he lost his wallet at the Reading Festival. He never found it, likely freaked out, replaced it and moved on with his life.

So, imagine his surprise when a random person reached out to him over Facebook claiming they found his wallet over a decade ago…

1. First contact

2. Every single one

According to the twitter post, a man named Giles messaged every Tim Burrows on Facebook in search of the one who lost his wallet at the Reading Festival in 2003.

3. The story

The way I understand it, this dude Burrows lost his wallet.

Giles and company found said wallet, took out a “10er,” and then they handed it over to the lost and found.

They took the free money and purchased however many ciders you could buy with that amount of money in 2003. As a token of their appreciation, Giles and company held a yearly drinking competition in Tim’s name.

4. Tim Burrows Drinking Challenge

What started off as just another excuse to join up and get smashed turned into a yearly cider-drinking contest that went on, unbeknownst to Tim, for 14 years. In the interest of paying back the money that was stolen, Giles also offered to take Tim Burrows out for a drink.

5. Twitter post blew up

6. Not to mention, some of the replies were hilarious

Check em out below:

Give the guy back his 10 spot, buy him a cider and have a good laugh.  Maybe include Tim in the yearly drinking contest.
