Mother Suffocates Daughter The Day Before Her 5th Birthday, Blames It On Jesus With Dark Angels

There are good arguments for committing people with schizophrenia to institutions. This story is one of them. A know schizophrenic, mother of two, commits unthinkable, not just in the death of her own daughter. This story will make you cry.

BellevilleNewsDemocratEric Kirk came home and found Mary Lockett naked, on top of her daughter, 4-year-old Emily Rose Perrin, with one hand pressed over the child’s nose and mouth and a dog leash in her other hand.

She told him that she was sending Emily to see Jesus.

“Jesus came along with dark angels,” she told police who arrived at the scene.

The account of the death of the girl known as “Princess” is detailed in an affidavit filed by Dupo Police in St. Clair County. The affidavit was filed as part of an application for a search warrant. It details the police investigation into Emily’s murder.

It was April 10 about 2:30 p.m. when Kirk, who is Lockett’s roommate, left the apartment to buy marijuana, the affidavit states. Emily, 4, and her brother Ethan, 8, were home. Lockett was in her bedroom smoking marijuana, Kirk told police.

Lockett faces first-degree murder charges in connection with Emily’s death. She is in the St. Clair County Jail on $1 million bail. A lawyer asked for a psychiatric evaluation, which was ordered by a judge last week.

Kirk came home about 15 minutes later and found Lockett, the 36-year-old mother of five, on top of her youngest child, Emily. Kirk called 911, telling police that Lockett was going crazy and was saying she was going to kill herself.

Dupo Police Officer Michael Sullivan arrived and found Emily lying in the middle of the

living room floor, lips purple, unconscious, not breathing. Kirk had pulled Lockett off Emily and was holding the woman down.

Sullivan took Emily to the front yard, where he began CPR until the ambulance arrived, the court documents state. It was the day before Emily’s 5th birthday. Colorful balloons with birthday messages were in the yard near where Sullivan tried to revive the girl. His efforts were unsuccessful. Emily died about 45 minutes later at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Louis.

Eight-year-old Ethan saw the attack, according to the police file.

“(Ethan) told Sullivan that Mom killed (Emily) and that she needed to go to jail,” the affidavit states.

SULLIVAN TOOK EMILY TO THE FRONT YARD WHERE HE BEGAN CPR UNTIL THE AMBULANCE ARRIVED, THE COURT DOCUMENTS STATE. LOUIS.

Ethan later told a forensic interviewer that Emily, who loved to be called “Princess,” had been lying on the floor playing with dolls when Lockett jumped on Emily. Lockett laid on Emily and put her hand over her mouth, Ethan said.

Lockett was taken to Touchette Regional Hospital, where she was sedated for her safety and for that of the hospital personnel, the affidavit stated.

Family members told police that Lockett was on medication to treat bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, but she was inconsistent with taking it.

While under sedation, Lockett asked police whether Ethan was dead, if a sword found in her car was used to cut his heart out, and if her roommate wiped his fingerprints off the sword and put hers on it, the affidavit stated. She also sent a text to her mother that stated Ethan stopped breathing and Lockett performed CPR and brought him back to life. Police found the text while looking for Lockett’s mother’s phone number to call her mother, according to the affidavit.

Police received a court order to collect hair, DNA, fingernail clippings and clothing from Lockett. They also wanted a search warrant to search the duplex at 105 N. Ninth St. in Dupo, Lockett’s 2015 blue Dodge Journey and her iPhone 6.

Police collected Lockett’s medication, medication to treat Emily’s cystic fibrosis, belts, a dog leash, a substance thought to be marijuana and two business cards — one from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the other from St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department Child Abuse Unit, according to the search warrants filed in court.

DCFS spokesman Veronica Resa confirmed the department was involved with Lockett and her children after a 2015 allegation of neglect. Lockett had been cooperative, Resa said, and had never threatened violence against Ethan or Emily.

Police also found pictures of Lockett in “various stages of undress, in sexual positions, some of which have small children visible,” according to the court documents.

Ethan has been staying with relatives. Emily was buried Saturday.
