I have a message for the Des Moines North High School. If you think this country’s colors are racist, get the f**k out. Don’t give me this crap about immigrants like you building this country. The immigrants who built this country didn’t come here and try to tear the country apart. They didn’t cling to their national pride of the country they fled because of the abuse and poverty. They wanted to be Americans. They assimilated and worked hard. They didn’t come here for welfare and a chance to prance through the streets burning the American flag and waving the flag of Mexico.
If you don’t want the American way of life, go to a country that is more suitable for you. We don’t want you. Valley High School students are being accused of racism because they wore red, white and blue. Now, how insane do you have to be to come to that conclusion? Not Charley Manson crazy. It’s something even crazier, liberal crazy.
The Germans, the Irish and the Polish weren’t offended by our flag or it’s colors. They embraced it. Especially the Irish. Never were there more ardent supporters of the United States than the Irish and all of those immigrants made learning to speak and understand English a priority, not because anyone told them to but because they wanted to be Americans.
“This is an example of BLATANT racism,” said Ty Leggett, a Valley High School alum, on the Valley High School – WDMCS Facebook page. “ALL participating should have been pulled and banned from ALL VHS extracurricular events for the remainder of the year! As a parent, I’d be mortified that my son or daughter thought this way, acted in this fashion and refrained from taking a stand against this 21st century inexcusable behavior!”
Erin Ness Carter, a mother living in the Iowan district, remarked that “for the supporters of one team from a primarily white part of town to paint themselves as the ‘team of the USA’ it strongly implies that the other team, the less white team, is less American.”
Some individuals defended the Valley High students.
“Now we can’t wear USA stuff without making someone upset?” asked Melissa Fraas-Bader, another Valley High alum. “Oh please….”
“This country is the United States of America and our country colors are red, white, and blue no matter what color of skin you have or what race you are,” said Mallorie Paige Sander, a current Valley High student. “The intentions to offend anyone by wearing USA themed clothing was no where in the thoughts of any of our student body, why would it be? We all live in America.”
No, we used to all live in America. Liberals have ended that.
