Polls Show That Trump is Expanding the Electoral Map

elect

One of the arguments that Trump used against Ted Cruz was that he, Trump, could compete in blue states, something Cruz never could do.  It’s early in the election cycle, but already there are clear signs that the map is expanding.  In some very blue states, Trump is running close or ahead of Hillary.  The general election hasn’t even started yet.

OREGON: In 2008, Obama won the state by 17 points and he came back in 2012 and won by 12 points.  Oregon has always been a deep blue state.   But a recent poll shows that Trump is actually ahead of Clinton by a 44-42 margin.  In an earlier poll, it showed Hillary leading Trump by 11 points but the same poll gave Hillary the lead over Sanders by double digits but she lost to Sanders by 12.

Hillary leads among women by 9 points, but Trump leads with men by 13 points.  What really sets the two apart is with Independent voters.  Trump leads Clinton by a 67-33 count among them.

Oregonians are still reeling over the resignation of Democratic Governor  John Kitzhaber.  One other problems for the democrats is the state has a ballot initiative to raise taxes on businesses totaling over 1 billion dollars.  The initiative is polling very badly.

NEW JERSEY: NJ is and has always been a deep deep blue state but a recent Monmouth poll shows Hillary leading by just 4 points.  Obama won New Jersey by 16 points in 2008 and by 18 in 2012.  Also, Chris Christie is a very popular governor and he has endorsed Trump and will campaign with him there.  NJ has only 14 electoral votes but by swinging it, it is actually a 28 vote swing.  14 less for Clinton and 14 more for Trump.

NEW HAMPSHIRE: Obama won the state by 10 and 5 in 2008 and 2012.  The two most recent polls have them tied.

CALIFORNIA: Hillary currently leads by 12 points and although that sounds like a lot, Obama won California twice by 24 and 23.  Moreover, that poll was before Trump promised to open up the water spigots to farmers in the state who have had empty fields due to the lack of water.  California is the largest agricultural states in America, when they have water anyway.

Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania are other states that could very well, shift to Trump.
