RECALL ALERT: Is Your Car One Of The 42 MILLION That Has Deadly Takata Airbags?

17 major automakers, from Honda to Cadillac to Ford, have recalled millions of cars.

Ford Motor Company is just the latest major auto manufacturer to add cars to the North American recall list. 816,00 have been recalled in this latest announcement.

Worldwide, 24,000 million vehicles have been recalled because of front passenger air bag inflators made my Tanaka. Hundreds have been hurt and 16 have died after the airbags have exploded with too much force and thrown shrapnel metal into the cars.

The recall is among the latest round of Takata recalls covering 42 million vehicles involving 17 automakers in the U.S. About 100 million inflators have been recalled worldwide.

The Takata recall is the largest automotive recall in U.S. history. It covers 69 million inflators and, again, 42 million vehicles in the U.S.

Last month, a 17-year-old in Texas died after a minor accident. The Takata airbag inflator from the inside of her Honda Civic’s steering wheel threw metal at the girl, cutting her in the neck.

So far, less than 8 million airbags have been replaced, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
