There has been a war going on in Texas pitting Gov Greg Abbott and Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez, who insists on making her county a safe haven for illegal aliens. Gov Abbott has placed her in check and it could be mate.
Gov Abbott announced that he is preparing a bill he wants the Texas legislature to pass that would allow him to remove any public officeholder that makes their jurisdiction a sanctuary for illegals. Now, before you trolls start yelling unconstitutional, let me explain something to you. Now, I understand why you don’t know this, because it appears in the US Constitution. It specifies two branches of power. Federal and state. There is no provision for local governments. Just as the state must obey federal laws, the local governments must obey the laws of the states.
In an unbelievable move, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has said that he was working on legislation that would remove from office any official who promotes sanctuary cities in his state that refuse to cooperate with the federal government in the processing of illegal immigrants.
In a recent interview with Fox News, he also revealed that he will be cutting off any grants from the governor’s office that go to sheriff’s offices in sanctuary cities in the state of Texas.
“These sheriff’s offices receive grants from the governor’s office in the state of Texas,” he said. “We are cutting off those grants to any sanctuary city in the state of Texas.”
