Three burglars forced their way into the home of an 80 year old man in Fairmont, Wv. Whitney Kabiru, a 23 year old woman knocked on the man’s door and requested to use his phone as she was in the middle of an emergency. When he opened the door to let her in, two men, 28-year- old Larry Shaver and 28-year-old John Grossklaus, forced their way into the home. Once inside, one of the men pulled a gun on the homeowner. He demanded the old man’s valuables, but unknown to them, the old man was ready.
Because the hour was so late, the old man retrieved his gun before answering the door and when they pulled a gun on him, he pulled out his own gun, killing one of the men, wounding the other, while the woman ran away. When the police came, they found Shaver in the street dead with bullet wounds in his neck and head. Grossklauss was nearby with a wound in his lower abdomen. Police picked up Kabiru shortly after.
Police found the gun that the three used and determined it was a pellet gun. Unfortunately for them, the old man’s gun was real and they paid a steep price for that mistake.
This is the kind of story you will never hear about from the mainstream press.
