Trump Looking at General John Kelly for DHS

President Elect Donald Trump will probably be adding another General to his administration.

Retired Marine General John Kelly is looking good as Trump’s choice to lead the Department of Homeland Security.

FOX News was tolkelly-2d by Kelly that he was already asked by Trump to serve in the DHS position. He is reported as saying, “I have been asked and would consider it an honor.” kelly-3

This would make three generals picked by Trump so far.

Kelly had served as senior military adviser for Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Leon Panetta before retiring earlier this year after leading U.S. Southern Command for three years while being involved in the oversight of the detention center at Guantanamo Bay and the southern border.

He served three tours in Iraq and lost his son, Marine 2nd Lt. Robert Kelly who was killed in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.kelly-1

John Kelly complained at his last Pentagon press conference in January that after 40 years as a Marine he had the authority to watch drug dealers heading to the border by sea, but he could not disrupt them. He is believed to have a good relationship with current DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson, with whom he served as Pentagon general counsel.

FOX News sources say Trump will name Kelly in the next few days.
