Using The Voice Of Barack Obama In A Campaign Robo-Call Isn’t The Biggest Problem With This Rep’s Bid For Re-Election

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Corruption and crime just surround the Obama administration, on every level. When you read this story, about Chaka Fattah, you’ll wonder why this guy is even running for office, much less using Obama’s voice in his robo-calls.

First, a little back ground. Who is Chaka Fattah? He’s a congressman from Pennsylvania’s second district, and has been serving in that seat since 1995. He’s also the considered part of the inner circle involved in bringing Barack Obama to his height of power.

A Washington political consultant and former partner of David Axelrod has pleaded guilty to wire fraud in federal court and may cooperate with prosecutors in a long-running probe linked to powerful U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah, Pennsylvania Democrat.

Tom Lindenfeld, who was a close adviser to D.C. Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser, admitted to the charge Wednesday in federal court in Philadelphia.

One day after Mr. Fattah garnered 87 percent of the vote to win his 11th term, Lindenfeld, 59, pleaded guilty in connection with an illegal $1 million loan he arranged for Mr. Fattah’s unsuccessful campaign for mayor in 2007.

And so the plot thickens. Last year, in July of 2015, Fattah was indicted, well read this. It’s abhorrent. Politico:

Fattah, who was elected to the House in 1994, has been charged with bribery, racketeering, money laundering, bank fraud, mail and wire fraud, and filing false statements as part of a years-long criminal scheme that even included Fattah lobbying President Barack Obama for an appointment for one of his alleged co-conspirators. The 58-year-old congressman faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted.

So, are you wondering, at this point, why this guy is still running for office? Could it be that when you are the head of the Appropriations Committee that funds the DOJ, maybe, just maybe, the wheels of “justice” turn slower for you than for everyone else?

Fattah has been the top Democrat on the Appropriations Committee panel that oversees funding for the Justice Department and other federal agencies. He has now stepped down from that post.

In a statement, Fattah painted himself as the victim of an overzealous DOJ that has hounded him for years. Fattah also signaled he has no intention of resigning from office.

And so, the voters in his district were treated to this, by the Prez. But it’s not surprising that he abandoned when things got “difficult.” Washington Times:

“Thank you to Chaka Fattah … for your leadership, especially on the issues of brain research that have the potential to change so many lives,” Mr. Obama said.

Presidential spokeswoman Jennifer Friedman told philly.com that the White House did not authorize the campaign’s use of the president’s voice.

“We have not endorsed a candidate in this race and did not approve of the president’s voice being used in this ad,” she said.

Mr. Fattah, an 11-term lawmaker, was being challenged in the primary by three rivals.

He lost the race to state Sen. Dwight Evans.

So, with everything given in this story, rubbing the White House the wrong way, with campaign rhetoric, isn’t the worst thing wrong with this guy, or his politics.
