And so WHAT ABOUT THE VICTIMS? This pervert was sentenced to prison twice for committing this brutal crime and was set free for … wait for it … good behavior. And as soon as he was released, he did it again … to a 60 year old woman!
WKRN: A Madison man accused of brutally raping a 60-year-old woman was convicted on rape charges twice before.
In 2003, Reginald Gregory was convicted of felony rape and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was let out early and charged with aggravated rape in 2012.
In the 2012 case, the District Attorney’s Office says Gregory was allowed to plead guilty to a lesser charge because the prosecutor deemed the charge appropriate due to the facts in the case.
According to the Tennessee Department of Corrections, Gregory was sentenced to six years in prison but only served about two, partially due to good behavior.
On Monday, Gregory is accused of meeting a 60-year-old wheelchair-bound woman on a city bus and offered to help her with her groceries.
When they arrived at her apartment, he allegedly raped her.
At the time, Gregory was on community supervision and put under a “restricted” risk level, the second highest level by state standards.
According to the Tennessee Department of Corrections, Gregory was required to check in with his parole officer four times a month. The parole officer also had 41 other active sex offenders to supervise.
News 2 spoke with someone who lives nearby and knows the victim. He wondered if the law did enough to protect his friend.
“I don’t understand why,” said Donal Dunkin. “She’s frail. How could he do this one, two, three times?”
