POLICE: Mom Scalped Daughter, 6, Because She Couldn’t Count to 12

Brittany Ruck, 25, of Conway, Pennsylvania is accused of lifting her 6-year-old daughter out of a chair by her hair so hard that “the girl’s scalp was separated from her skull and blood pooled around the girl’s eyes.”

Even more horrific is the mother’s reason for the alleged abuse: her daughter was unable to count to 12.

Authorities were alerted when Ruck brought the child to the hospital on August 31, a few days after the incident, for treatment.

This is when the little girl gave her account of the incident, telling Conway police officer Mike Priolo that she could only count to 10 because she had 10 fingers, but she couldn’t count any higher. That’s when the mother grabbed her by her hair.”

“It’s just sad because she didn’t do anything wrong and she had to bear the brunt of pain,” Priolo told WPXI news. “The doctors told us there was a separation of the victim from her skull,”

The girl also told police that on a separate occasion, her mother pulled her across the floor into a corner by a hair.

The pharmacy technician was charged yesterday with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Ruck is being held in the Beaver County Jail on $50,000 bond.

All three of her children have been removed from the home and sent to live with family members. Reportedly, the 6-year-old girl has made a full recovery. There’s no word on what Ruck’s husband has to say about the incident.
