The Olympic Games are about to begin in less than a week and of all that has gone wrong the most concerning of all is the spread of the Zika virus that is transmitted by mosquitos. Concerns are mounting in England that “Public Health England” has advised pregnant tourists to cancel non-essential travel to Florida and said Britons should abstain from sex without a condom while they are on holiday and for eight weeks after.
This comes just days before the Olympic Games 2016 are set to kick off in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Brazil has confirmed over 1,700 cases of microcephaly linked to Zika infection in pregnant women, sparking fears over the impact it will have on the games.
Thomas Cook, First Choice, Thompson and Virgin Holidays all told the Sunday Telegraph that pregnant holiday makers with trips already booked to Florida this year will be granted free cancellations or amendments.
The question is how does one enact a sex ban? I understand that this virus is incredibly frightening, but can you realistically ban people from having sex? All I can say is that if you are visiting Florida be extra careful till this threat is eradicated.
