A 91 year old man was going to a pharmacy, when he noticed a strange looking character watching and following hi, The old man then walked away but he noticed that the man was still following him. He turned and warned the man that he was armed and had a concealed carry permit. The man was far from intimidated and probably thought the man was bluffing as he moved towards him. The old man reached into his waistband and pulled out a .38 and shot the man in the neck, which caused him to flee. The police picked him up and took him to the hospital for treatment.
The police say the unidentified senior citizen had followed every protocol. He tried walking away. He put some distance between them and warned the would be mugger that he was armed and willing to use deadly force. There are no plans to charge him with a crime.
In the police report the authorities noted that the senior citizen followed all the proper protocols when he was confronted, he first tried to walk away, however when he noticed he was still being followed, he stopped at a safe distance away and warned the approaching intruder he was armed, when that didn’t stop the intruder, the elderly gentlemen took aim and fired paying special attention to the “reactionary gap’ the time it would take to safely and effectively react.
It’s always better to be an intended victim rather than a real one.
