You’ll Never Go Into Another Locker Room After You Read This

Some things are just too creepy and this is no exception. Most of us feel there is a certain expectation of privacy when we enter the locker room after a workout. Well, maybe not so much in very small town of Loup City, Nebraska. And at the center of the locker room controversy is a teacher, no less.

NBC Nebraska reportsLoup City, Neb. The Central Nebraska teacher accused of hiding a video camera in a locker room has bonded out of jail.

Police arrested 25-year-old Anthony Rahe, an agriculture instructor at Loup City Public Schools Friday on two counts of unlawful intrusion, class four felonies.

Rahe bonded out of the Valley County Jail on Monday. He was being held on $50,000 bond.

“[I’m] concerned for the safety of the kids and making sure that it’s been addressed appropriately by school authorities,” said Lonnie Tverdik.

One neighbor who lives across from the school believes the district has a strong school system and a competent school board.

“We don’t have kids here but I would feel comfortable sending my kids here,” Tverdik said.

The mother of one of Rahe’s eighth grade students said she’s horrified this could happen in Loup City. Overall, residents don’t want this isolated incident to be a reflection of the community of less than 1,000.

“It’s a very diverse town, small town, classy school-type situation. Very good community; very good business sector,” Tverdik said.

According to a statement released by the department, it appeared the recordings were not shared with anyone.

His court appearance is set for Dec. 3.

In the meantime, the school district said Rahe is suspended and barred from the premises. Superintendent and Principal Blake Dahlberg released this statement:

“On the evening of October 8th, a student reported seeing a video camera in the high school girls locker room. The staff member that she reported it to secured the camera with the help of a custodian and contacted law enforcement. The camera was then given to law enforcement.

The investigation that was conducted by law enforcement has indicated that a staff member is suspected of being responsible for this incident. This staff member will not be allowed on school grounds or at school events for the foreseeable future, starting immediately.

The Loup City School District will continue to take the appropriate steps necessary to provide a safe learning environment for our students and staff.”
