13-Year-Old Girl Wins $70,000 SUV in Charity Raffle, Then Stuns the Crowd

Erin Byrnes is a normal 13-year-old girl who attends eighth grade in Camillus, New York, near Syracuse. But late last month, Erin made an extraordinary gesture. After winning a nearly $70,000 SUV in a Joseph’s House raffle, she shocked everyone with what she decided to do with it.

Immediately after winning the Chevy Tahoe LTZ, Erin gave the vehicle right back to Joseph’s House, a home for pregnant women, mothers and children.

On “Fox and Friends Weekend,” Erin explained that she has been raising money for Joseph’s House for more than a year. She babysits there every Thursday with her mother, Jeanie Byrnes.

Erin said that she raised money for 60 raffle tickets by gathering bottles and cans. When she found out that one of her tickets was the big winner out of more than 26,000, she was “going crazy.”

Why did you decide the give the SUV away? Anna Kooiman asked.

“Joseph’s House is very important to me. They need the money more than I do. And if you saw those babies, you would have done the same thing,” Erin said.
