Two men have been sentenced to prison terms in Britain after being convicted of rape in a case involving a woman with a learning disability. According to the West Midlands Police, Yasser Mahmood, 23 and Abdi Seerar, 27, approached the woman outside a Birmingham nightclub in January of 2015.
The sickening duo decided that they would teach the 20-year-old something she didn’t want to know about — namely, sexual assault and robbery.
Mahmood and Seerar ransacked the woman’s belongings, eventually leaving with her purse. However, a CCTV operator noticed what the two men were doing and contacted police, who apprehended the men.
Mahmood received the most serious sentence, drawing two years and three months for his part for the rape and robbery. Seerar, meanwhile, only drew eight months for exposure. The two will still have to register as sex offenders in Britain for 10 years.
“The woman who was assaulted has shown great strength throughout the investigation, which has ultimately led to the pair being jailed for this despicable crime,” Detective Constable John Marsh of the West Midlands Police Public Protection Unit stated in a news release.
“Mahmood and Seerar preyed upon the vulnerable woman as she left a club after a night out and then carried out the attack and stole her purse leaving her isolated.
