Each and everyday we wake up to the sound of an alarm blaring in our ear to get moving. We slowly rise, wash our face and get prepared to face the day. We make our coffee, kiss our children goodbye, and begrudgingly head out the door. We drive through traffic, and make it to work safe and sound, where most of the time the clock is watched and we head back home 8 hours later. The typical day, but what is most often over looked in our daily lives are the brave men and women who do the same thing each and everyday without the promise of returning to kiss their families when they walk through the door.
Our United States military, law enforcement, firefighters and public service risk their lives to give us what we have each and everyday, they do it without thought, to protect and to serve. It is a calling for most that could not be denied. A career with little thanks or thought from many. So when a server at Buffalo Wild Wings encountered a very exhausted service man with his family, she made sure he, as well as his wife were properly thanked for his service, and for his wife’s sacrifice as well. After she got off of work she posted her encounter on facebook.
“A man, his wife and 2 toddlers came in tonight and I served them.
When they were ordering, the man kept kinda stumbling his words and I asked if he was ok. His wife told me he had been up for 3 days and was just tired. I then noticed the badge and gun on his hip.
After getting them their food and watching for a little bit, he was involved talking and playing with his kids. Couldn’t tell he was so tired.” Read the entire post here
Melissa told us in a exclusive interview that the gentleman’s eyes were blood shot, and he continued to stumble over his words. She asked if if he was OK, and he said he was, and that he had just gotten off of work. He is a Deputy Sheriff in one county, a detective in another, and his wife said he is also part of The National Guard. That wasn’t what impressed Melissa so much, as she watched him she noticed how he played with his children, he never missed a beat, and he would occasionally kiss his wife’s hand and her forehead. She said that he was more focused on his family than himself, talk about a selfless man.
“This man was so tired and his eyes bloodshot, yet he was engaged and his kids weren’t ignored, his wife was loved and he still had a smile on his face.
This is the very true example of a hard working man who sacrifices his time and sleep to not only protect us but to make sure his family isn’t ignored.
I don’t know his name but I thank you for your service sir and pray he is protected at each of his jobs!”
This holiday season and every season for that matter, remember those that serve our community and our country, a small act of kindness and gratitude can benefit us all.
