After 71 arrests, ‘hot spot’ policing moves to new neighborhoods

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) — A recent move to use hot spot policing has resulted in 71 arrests in seven days in the fifth ward of St. Louis.

Despite the success, city police say there is still more work to be done.

Officers are infiltrating the West End and Wells Goodfellow neighborhoods as the latest targets for hot spotting.

Wells Goodfellow had the most murders of any St. Louis neighborhood in 2014. The increase in violence and guns in the area will be the primary focus of the additional officers deployed in and around the neighborhood.

Officers were dispatched Monday morning to look for violent criminals in the West End and Wells Goodfellow neighborhoods.
