Fedencio Sanchez, 89, could not afford to retire and enjoy his last few years in leisure.  His wife has been selling paletas, but now she is sick and unable to work.  To make matters worse, their only daughter died recently and and left the couple heartbroken.

A photographer, Joel Cervantes Macias, took a picture of the man and spent some time talking to him.  He was so touched by his story that he set up a GoFundMe account for the couple.  In just one day, over $100,000 was raised and after three days the total has climbed to $326,000 and still climbing.  The original goal was $3,000.  At this pace, Mr Macias could become a millionaire and he and his wife can live out the rest of their lives with no worries.

From Rightwing News:

He was so touched by the sight, he also set up a GoFundMe page to help Fedencio – and kind donors have given away over a quarter of a million dollars in less than three days.

If that figure keeps rising, he could become a millionaire in no time at all.

Despite that, Fedencio still went back to work selling popsicles, as abc7 Chicago captured on video.

Joel said: “I saw this elderly man struggling to push is (sic) paleta cart (Popsicle cart).

“It broke my heart seeing this man that should be enjoying retirement still working at this age.

“I had to pull over and took this picture. I then bought 20 paletas and gave him a $50 and said may God bless him and drove away.”

The photo inspired a huge response after Joel posted it on Facebook, and a friend Joel Loera

“I posted this picture on Facebook and since then, I’ve gotten a huge response.
