Maybe it should be called “Six Drags over Texas” for June.
Six Flags over Texas announced on Friday that it will host drag shows every Friday and Saturday in June to celebrate the LGBT occasion known as “pride month.”
The show is described as “family-friendly and inclusive for all ages” on the attraction’s website, with the caveat that anyone under 17 should talk with a parent or guardian if they have any concerns.
On Twitter, there was a lot of opposition.

Texas’s park is not the only one.
A drag performance is another attraction at the Six Flags Park in the Bay Area. According to the website, this will be a “show unlike any other.” On Friday’s “pride” performance, Six Flags St. Louis featured the “Dives of the Grove” as its drag act.
According to ABC, Texas lawmakers enacted a bill to restrict public displays of sexual activity in an effort to reduce the number of minors who attend drag queen performances. Greg Abbott, governor of Texas, is anticipated to sign the legislation.
Republican state Sen. Bryan Hughes celebrated the victory in a May 29 Twitter post.

“Our bill protecting children from sexually explicit drag shows (S.B. 12) is officially headed to the Governor’s desk. These shows are indisputably inappropriate for minors, and we will not allow children to be sexualized nor preyed upon in Texas,” he wrote.
In speaking of an earlier version of the bill that more narrowly focused on drag shows, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said the action was necessary, according to CBS.
“It is shocking to me that any parent would allow their young child to be sexualized by drag shows. Children, who cannot make decisions on their own, must be protected from these sexually-oriented drag shows now occurring more and more in front of them,” he said in a news release.
Patrick said “Someone must fight back against the radical Left’s degradation of our society and values. I will not allow Texas children to be sexualized and scarred for life by harmful drag performances.”
According to ABC, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has approved legislation that prohibits minors from attending drag performances and grants the state the authority to cancel the food and beverage licenses of venues that do so.
