After getting into trouble for saying that he would serve Bud Light at his bar when it opens later this summer, actor, and comedian Rob Schneider advised country music superstar Garth Brooks to “just shut up” this week.
Brooks recently made an appearance on Billboard’s Country Live in Conversation, where he seemed to poke fun at other country musicians who run bars but refuse to sell Bud Light because of the latter’s earlier this year decision to engage in paid marketing with a divisive transgender influencer.
“Yes, we’re going to serve every brand of beer,” the singer said. “We just are. It’s not our decision to make. If you come into this house, love one another. If you’re an a**hole, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway.”
“In my existence, one a**hole can turn the whole tide down there,” he added. “My thing is, let’s create a place that you feel safe in.”
Later, Brooks reiterated his points, claiming that inclusion and diversity best represent him.
“I get it, everyone’s got their opinions,” Brooks said. “But inclusiveness is always going to be me. I think diversity is the answer to the problems that are here. And the answer to the problems that are coming.”
Schneider stated on Fox Nation’s “Woke Up in America” that Brooks should keep his mouth shut and avoid the controversy moving forward.
“I think next time, he’s going to stay out of it, isn’t he? I think Garth Brooks, next time, is going to shut his mouth, and he’s going to pretend like ‘I don’t have anything to do with what beer is chosen in my restaurant,’” Schneider said. “I think the culture is in a very weird little place of hypersensitivity one way or the other. And I think that’s why most people shut their mouths.”
Schneider advised prominent people like Brooks to refrain from getting too involved in business affairs so they won’t have to face criticism if something goes wrong.
“I mean, just from a business standpoint, just shut up, say I have nothing to do with it,” he said.
