Recently, the Huffington Post published a story about a new movement called the “Betsy Riot” which urges gun opponents to steal guns from their legal owners. The story was guest story but it had to be cleared by a HuffPo editor. To read that story, click here The story has been removed from the HuffPo probably at the urging of their lawyers who pointed out that urging people to commit felonies is a felony itself. Still, there are those ready to commit a felony in order to become a folk hero. Why, you could be the most famous person in Cell Block C.
The Bets in this story is facing significant time behind bars after he got incensed because a Kansas resident was using the 2nd Amendment. The nut got so incensed that he grabbed the gun from him and then held him and another man at gunpoint with it until he shot the gun owner in the leg. So the man who loved guns committed no violent crime with his gun but the gun nut, who hates guns committed an act of violence by shooting someone with his stolen gun. Ironic, is it not?
From The Conservative Tribune:
According to The Kansas City Star, 59-year-old Ricky Paul Smith of Overland Park, Kansas, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and battery for an incident that occurred in early October.
Smith reportedly observed a man who was concealed carrying a handgun, which is perfectly legal to do in theconstitutional carry state, when he became so upset by it that he snatched the gun away from the lawful carrier and pointed it at him and another man.
Smith then proceeded to shoot the man from whom he had grabbed the gun in the leg, causing a serious though not life-threatening injury.
He was incredibly lucky that he was not also charged with robbery for stealing the gun, or more importantly, attempted murder for shooting the man with a deadly weapon.
This is simply insane, and goes to show just how dangerously crazy and prone to violence some of the more zealous gun control advocates can truly be.
