So much for objective thought and debate in our secondary education. But for those in the know, this is no surprise. Political Correctness is a disease that needs to be addressed, and for this to happen at New York University, in the belly of the beast of libralism, is truly a step in the right direction. I hope the professor has a law suit on the horizon. Michael Rectenwald, the New York University liberal studies professor on a crusade against political correctness, has been ousted from the classroom after colleagues complained about his “incivility”. Rectenwald told the New York Post that he was forced on Wednesday to go on paid leave from the prestigious University for the rest of the semester.
His Twitter account “DeplorableNYUProfessor” launched last month as a personal protest against social justice warriors was a “no safe spaces” zone, where Rectenwald expressed his frustration with current PC culture on campus. It claimed to “expose the viral identity politics of academia and its destruction of academic integrity.”
Two weeks ago he posted on his “anti-PC” feed a photo of a flyer put out by NYU resident advisers telling students how to avoid wearing potentially offensive Halloween costumes. His caption read: “The scariest thing about Halloween today is, the liberal totalitarian costume surveillance. NYU Administrator’s got mad,” he wrote. NYU claimed they were worried about the professor, and a couple people had expressed concern about his mental health. They suggested Rectenwald’s voicing these opinions was a cry for help. They said he should leave and get help. They had no reason to believe that his mental health was in question, unless to have a different opinion makes one insane.
