Since taking on the case, the judge assigned to former president Donald Trump’s legal dispute with the Department of Justice has made her first ruling.
Due to the delicate nature of the case, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon ordered that every one of the attorneys involved receive the necessary security clearances, CNN reported on Thursday.
“In a Thursday order, Cannon gave ‘all attorneys of record and forthcoming attorneys of record’ a Friday deadline for getting in touch with the Justice Department’s litigation security group so that they can expedite ‘the necessary clearance process,’” the network’s Tierney Sneed reported.

Each lawyer in the case was given till Tuesday by the judge designated by Trump to follow the ruling.
Sneed stated As of Thursday night, Todd Blanche and Chris Kise, attorneys for Trump, had already done this.
The former president, who is the front-runner for the GOP nomination for president in 2024, entered a not-guilty plea to 37 counts involving the alleged improper handling of sensitive documents on Tuesday in Miami.
The case against Trump was introduced last week by special counsel Jack Smith, who was hired to investigate the former president’s illegal storage and handling of sensitive materials.
Smith was chosen by Attorney General Merrick Garland last year. His wife created a documentary about the former first lady Michelle Obama and contributed to Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign.
He was chosen to head the inquiry after the FBI searched Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, in August 2022 in search of secret records.
Ten months later, the DOJ filed dozens of felony charges against the former president and claimed that he had broken the Espionage Act.
Trump has vowed to battle the allegations and has denied them.
Several of his rivals in the Republican primary election of 2024 have promised to pardon him if they are elected president.
Cannon took on the case shortly after the FBI raid and later consented to let the former president designate a so-called special master to examine the relevant records.
Democrats and the mainstream media have argued against the judge’s participation in the case and called for her to step aside.
She hasn’t indicated that she plans to do so.

In May 2020, Cannon received a nomination to the Southern District of Florida’s U.S. District Court.
On November 12, 2020, the U.S. Senate approved her confirmation to the bench with a vote of 56 to 21.
