Amy Schumer is no longer going to play the lead character in the planned Barbie movie. She blames it on a scheduling conflict but comes at a time when she has several flops, including a comedy special that she blames the Alt-Right for not being funny. She is the niece of Chuck Schumer which could mean that failure is a genetic trait in her family. The shooting of the movie will now be delayed while they find someone better suited for the part than Schumer like Joe Piscopo or Rachel Madcow.
“Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to ‘Barbie’ due to scheduling conflicts,” Schumer said. “The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen.”
“We respect and support Amy’s decision,” a spokesperson for Sony told the outlet. “We look forward to bringing ‘Barbie’ to the world and sharing updates on casting and filmmakers soon.”
“A doll living in ‘Barbieland’ is expelled for not being perfect enough and sets off on an adventure in the real world,” a description of the film on IMDb read. “A Live-action feature film based on the popular line of Barbie toys.”
Schumer’s schedule recently picked up with the promotion of her new comedy film “Snatched” as well as taking on a role with Rebecca Miller’s film for “She Came to Me” which made it difficult to keep the project on its current track of production, according to Variety.
The fact that the movie producers were planning on casting Schumer as Barbie is an indicator that the movie is politically correct and was sending a message by having the world’s most recognized doll to be played by a fat slob liberal.
