Arizona has made some important moves lately in order to protect your Second Amendment gun rights, and we believe that you are absolutely going to like them.
Simply put, Republican Governor Doug Ducey recently signed legislation that would any of the local governments within the state from either aiding or enforcing any of the infringement placed on gun rights by the federal government. This is an important step for Second Amendment supporters in the state of Arizona. At the same time, it is a tremendous blow to the liberals within the Biden Administration.
House Bill 2111 was passed by both the Arizona Senate and Arizona House and it was an attempt to cut off any legislation that regulates guns by the Biden Administration. Essentially, any new gun legislation by President Joseph Robinette Biden would be dead in the water in the state of Arizona.
“This bill means that the state of Arizona and any of its political subdivisions will not be able to utilize any financial resources or state personnel that would administer, enforce, or cooperate with any law, order, act, regulation or treaty of the federal government that is not consistent with the state of Arizona’s laws regarding firearms,” according to the text of the legislation.
One of the things that brought this legislation would be the recent reports where Biden has promised to seek a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. He is doing this as a knee-jerk reaction to some of the mass killings that have occurred during his term.
Of course, there are several critics of the bill, including Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone. He said that he felt there was some “political motivation” behind Governor Ducey’s new bill.
“It’s one of these emotionally-charged issues that will simply just create a lot more confusion and challenges a lot more than it will benefit anything,” he said.
There are others that will lead to litigation where the taxpayers will foot the bill. Gun-control advocacy group Moms Demand Action has collected 2,400 signatures opposing the bill and presented it to the governor’s office just before he signed the bill.
Of course, there were a lot of protests regarding the Moms Demand Action group, but Democratic State Sentor Lisa Otondo kept insisting gun owners that their rights were still safe.
“There is no one who is trying to take away your guns,” she said. “You will be able to keep your guns for the protection of your family, your property, and your Second Amendment right of gun ownership.”
Regardless of these assurances, gun sales continue to skyrocket because of the fears that some have over President Biden. They are not only concerned about the pandemic lockdowns, but also the instability of this current administration.
What do YOU think about this law passed by the Arizona governor and how people have reacted to it? Your comments are appreciated!
