I don’t know what bolt of lightning hits these elites in the head that makes them think they can espouse political rhetoric and have anyone take them seriously, but they really do believe the stuff they spew.
Sometimes, the socialites of Hollywood get it right, but those times are so few and far between that it’s difficult to remember.
The Obama Administration has spent more time denying the reality of the situation than crafting a viable solution to defeat the savages.
Here’s a short list of the nonsense politicians have said in defense of ISIS:
- “They just need jobs!”
- “We don’t understaaaaaand their culture!”
- “They don’t even have anything to do with Islam!”
- “We can end the violence with love!”
- Climate change is “directly related” to the growth of terrorism.
When you think you’ve heard it all, someone comes along and spews more nonsense that makes the rest pale in comparison.
On Tuesday, Bono testified to the Senate Appropriations subcommittee to talk about combating violent extremism with serious relief efforts and even comedy.
According to Reuters, Bono pushed legislators on a new Marshall Plan to step up humanitarian relief efforts in the Middle East in the name of combating the rise of extremism there and in Europe.
One thing in particular he touched on was the power of comedy to belittle extremists and how dictators like Hitler have tried to silence certain kinds of art they don’t like.
He said that laughing at extremists as they’re “goose-stepping down the street takes away their power,” and so Bono proposed assembling an elite squad of comedians: Amy Schumer, Chris Rock, and Sacha Baron Cohen.
Baron Cohen in particular already has experience lampooning dictators.
