Tensions in South Israel remain high after an unknown terror group launched four rockets at Israel from Gaza on Friday night. The four rockets caused panic in the Jewish communities in the Gaza border area, but no casualties or damage were reported.
The Israeli air force reacted by striking Hamas targets in northern Gaza. Two children, ages 6 and 13, were killed, and Hamas reported that two other children were injured in the IAF airstrike. The rocket attacks on Israel came after a lull of two months during which only infiltration attempts from Gaza into Israel were reported. Hamas issued a statement in which it threatened to avenge the death of the children. “Our patience towards the occupation’s crimes has a limit. The blood of the two children that were killed in Gaza will not be spilled in vain,” Izz-a-Din Al-Qassam, the military wing of Hamas, announced.
Earlier Friday evening, Hamas hackers succeeded to disrupt the broadcast of the popular reality show Big Brother on Israeli TV Channel 10. Viewers of the program suddenly watched inciting images and messages from Hamas instead of the adventures of the reality stars. While images of past terror attacks against Israeli citizens filled the screens, a Hamas message in Hebrew and Arabic read, “Learn from history. Flee for your lives and get out of our country. You murder women and schoolgirls in cold blood. So wait for our pressure, the pressure will be fierce.” The video included images of the Jan. 1 shooting attack in Tel Aviv when an Israeli Arab terrorist from a village in the Wadi Ara region murdered three Israelis. “Stay in your homes, the story is not over, the continuation will come,” a final message read after three and a half minutes of disruption.
