ST. LOUIS COUNTY – NewsChannel 5 has learned a shooting investigation is underway in west St. Louis County.

The scene is near Manchester Road and Ballas Road near West County Center. One person is injured.

An eyewitness told NewsChannel 5 they saw a black Dodge sports car driving fast from the direction of the mall and almost collide with a Des Peres patrol vehicle. The witness said the officer got out of the patrol vehicle and opened fire on the driver of the sports car.

Crime scene tape is surrounding the entrance to the Edward Jones building across the street from the mall.

NewsChannel 5’s Art Holliday has learned St. Louis County police are taking over the investigation.
