Cop Follows Strange Sound Into Bathroom Stall, Comes Out Different Than Going In

Sgt. P.A. Bass was at a grocery store in St. Albans on an unrelated shoplifting call when he heard a child crying in the store’s bathroom.

Inside, he said he found a woman and a 14-month-old girl.

The woman, Donnyell Harrison, was arrested, charged with possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, WOWK reported.

The baby’s mother is already in jail and the care of the child was left to another woman, who apparently gave the child to Harrison, police said.

Child Protective Services was notified, but there was a delay in getting an advocate to take care of the child.

Bass stepped in, buying small toys for the child, while other officers bought diapers and baby food.

The baby stayed with Bass until someone from CPS was able to take her.
