General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems Group (GA-EMS) is the cutting edge of rail guns and it is capable of sending projectiles towards it’s target at speeds of up to 4,500 miles an hour.  That speed is Mach 6 or six times the speed of sound.  It has been called “Star Wars” technology and it doesn’t require any chemical propellants but relies on electricity alone.  I guess that means all you need is like a really long extension cord?

New test footage shows the enormous weapon, known as the multi-mission Medium Range Railgun Weapon System, fire projectiles into the side of a military-standard vehicle.
The aerodynamic projectiles are filmed travelling through the air in slow motion.

The railgun exceeds accelerations of Mach 6, which is six times the speed of sound.

Upon impact, the side of the truck explodes and appears to break into thousands of tiny pieces.

The footage was released by General Atomics, a defence firm contracted by the US Department of Defense, which is headquartered in San Diego, California.
General Atomics has worked steadily to develop the technology, as has its rival British firm BAE Systems, and the advanced military technology has undergone testing with the US Navy since 2012.

The technology uses electromagnets to send its projectiles hurtling off at thousands of miles per hour. The force generated can be adjusted, depending on the range of the target

Railguns use electricity instead of gunpowder to accelerate a projectile at six or seven times the speed of sound.

Using an electromagnetic force known as the Lorenz Force, the gun accelerates a projectile between two rails that conduct electricity, before launching it at ferocious speed.

This means the railgun can fire further than conventional guns and maintain enough kinetic energy to inflict tremendous damage.

Tests have shown that the weapons can fire a shell weighing 10kg at up to 5,400mph over 100 miles – with such force and accuracy it penetrates three concrete walls or six half-inch thick steel plates.

The video below shows tests of BAE’s model.

The Navy is planning on replacing all of it’s conventional guns with the new technology.  The ship itself is capable of producing all the electricity needed to fire the guns and no longer will the ship need to fear a shell hitting their munitions room and exploding.  Watch the following video to get an idea what the future looks like and also a possible solution to the Antifa problem.
