INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Indianapolis police say two officers were injured before a pursuit Monday.

The chase started around 6:45 p.m. south of 71st Street, near Georgetown Road, and went south toward I-465 and Kentucky Avenue.

Police say the shooting occurred before the chase began.

One officer was shot, and a second was injured. It’s not clear at this time how the second officer was injured.

IMPD said the officer who was shot is alert and conscious at Methodist Hospital. His injuries are said to be non-life threatening.
