Did Fox News Just Back CNN Up On Their Trump Lawsuit?

Fox News announced Tuesday that the network intends to file an amicus (friend-of-the-court) brief in support of CNN’s lawsuit against the White House.

Network President Jay Wallace spoke of an “antagonistic tone” from both President Donald Trump and the press, saying Fox News supports a free press and that press access should not be “weaponized.”

“FOX News supports CNN in its legal effort to regain its White House reporter’s press credential,” Wallace said in a statement. “We intend to file an amicus brief with the U.S. District Court. Secret Service passes for working White House journalists should never be weaponized.

“While we don’t condone the growing antagonistic tone by both the President and the press at recent media avails, we do support a free press, access and open exchanges for the American people.”

A lawsuit was filed against the White House when CNN White House Correspondent Jim Acosta’s “hard pass” press credential was revoked last week after a contentious exchange between the reporter and the president.

During the heated incident, Acosta had physical contact with a White House intern trying to retrieve the microphone he was using and refused to surrender, which is what prompted the administration to take action.

One thing is certain about Wallace announcing that Fox News is backing CNN, folks on the right — Fox News’ base — were NOT happy.
