UPDATE: Authorities have determined it was an underground transformer that exploded.

Police are reporting an explosion at the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, Virginia. No details available yet.

This explosion stokes terrorism fears as it’s the third city to suffer explosions toaday.  Seaside heights, New Jersey and manhattan New York had earlier explosions.  Both were improvised explosive devices.

No further information is available in Charlottesville yet.  We will update as more information becomes available.
