Failure Of Socialized Medicine Separates Couple Married 62 Years

I am asking anyone how this can happen? There is so much wrong with this story that, it pains me to write it. Another check mark in the negative column of socialized medicine. I wonder if any of the workers in these homes would want this to happen to their parents? These two people have had their most important part of their lives taken away (each other) because of regulation, where is the compassion, the understanding, the love we are told would always be there for those in need?

According to Hot Air:

Wolf and Anita Gottschalk of Surrey, B.C, have been married for 62 years. But they were admitted into separate nursing homes and, for the last eight months, have been forced to live apart.

Every other day, a member of their family, usually their granddaughter Ashley Bartyik, drives the 40 minutes so they can see each other. Every time it’s time to say goodbye, there are tears.
A photo of the couple crying as they are forced to say goodbye to one another went viral after it was published online by their granddaughter:

If this is what universal health care is to be, I don’t want any part of it. In many cultures around the world elders are held in high regard, respected, given the seat of honor. It looks to me in our secular society we have been pushed into, does not afford our seniors this luxury.  To separate this couple is all that is wrong with the system. I hope common sense prevails and give these two the simple pleasure of each other’s company in their so called, “Golden Years”. What do you think?
