Fantasy and Hypocrisy On Display At Olympic Opening Ceremonies
With the collective eyes of the world on the opening ceremonies of the Olympics last night, I couldn’t help but notice, even in sporting events, the push for globalization. Let me ask you, how long did it take you to smile and shake your head when the skit on climate change was played out? This coming from a country where the rain forest is being cut down like grass; human waste is directly dumped in the river among other degrees of filth; to the degree that different Nations have had to design special suits for the water events, for fear of bacterial infections. In the words of Ralph Kramden ” it’s a laugh riot”.
In Brazil, they say Alberto Santos Dumont is the inventor – and that the Wright Brothers actually invented a ”jumping machine.” To pay homage to Dumont, a small plane appeared in the stadium during the portion of the opening ceremony that showed where Brazil began modernizing.
I pride myself in knowing a bit about history but I was unaware of Mr. Dumont. It is Brazil, mind you and I’m not up to date on the countries history, but by the looks of the replica, I could not ever see the “air machine ” moving, never mind getting off the ground. I’ll stick with the Wright Brothers. Do you have a comment on the Opening Ceremony?
