Father Who Raped Teen Daughter for Four Years Gets 1,503 Years

A California father who was standing trial for raping his teen daughter two to three times a week for four years has been sentenced to 1,503 years in prison.  The man was not named in order to protect his daughter.  It is believed to be the longest sentence ever imposed in the Fresno court.  He was found guilty of of 186 felony counts of sexual assault, including dozens of counts of rape of a minor. Judge Edward Sarkisian Jr noted that the father showed no remorse and had in fact blamed his daughter for his misdeeds.

The father had been offered two plea deals.  The first one early on would have sentenced him to 13 years of which 1/3 could have been knocked off for good behavior meaning he would have been 50 when he got out of prison.  He was offered another plea deal just before the trial started of 22 years, meaning he would have to serve at least 14 1.2 years, but he turned both deals down flat.

From The Mail Online:

‘He ruined her teenage years and made her feel like it was her fault,’ Galstan said in arguing for the maximum sentence.

The sentencing is in stark contrast to a recent case in Montana, where a man who raped his 12-year-old daughter was not sent to prison.

Instead the judge handed down a 30-year suspended sentence after the man pleaded guilty to incest and ordered him to spend 60 days in jail, giving him credit for 17 days already served.
