A penny for the Founding Fathers thoughts right now. The Betsy Ross flag is deemed racist by a high school in Michigan. It is not hard to understand where this comes from. A predominately black high school has come to this conclusion. Based on the climate of the day, the only question is, what took so long? How is dwelling on the past better than living in the present?
“To wave a historical version of our flag, that to some symbolizes exclusion and hate, injects hostility and confusion to an event where no one intended to do so,” wrote Forest Hills Public Schools Superintendent Daniel Behm in a letter to parents. The controversy surrounding the 13-star flag erupted on Sept. 9th during a football game between predominantly white Forest Hills Central High School and predominantly black Ottawa Hills High School, MLive reports. Forest Hills students not only waved a “Betsy Ross” flag, but they also displayed a Donald Trump banner (behavior guaranteed to get you labeled deplorable).
What an archaic approach to race relations in the racist country. Let’s dwell on the past forever, that will make things all better. What is to come of this nonsense? How does it help? Do the hard working white Americans have to hand over more of their hard-earned money to appease a minority group that languishes in their own self-pity? When will the race baiter’s realize their push is now a push back? It’s time to work together, if not live in world of regret and hate that you alone have created.
What do you think?
