Venezuela is working towards banning private gun ownership in the country; I think this could be a case study for all to pay attention. National socialism has not worked in the country. It relied heavily on oil production and the market plummeted, now the country is in deep recession and money is completely worthless. Shelves are bare, and there is no food to be had; gasoline lines are hours long, and all basic staples are almost non existent. So what happens next? People are fighting in the streets for mere scraps. So what does leadership do that has had complete control over the population? Instead of loosing regulations, and letting a free market come to play, it goes the route of totalitarianism and bans gun ownership. Will that stop the killing, or is the government afraid of the people storming the castle?
Under the new law, only the army, police and certain groups like security companies will be able to buy arms from the state-owned weapons manufacturer and importer.
The ban is the latest attempt by the government to improve security and cut crime ahead of elections in October
Venezuela saw more than 18,000 murders last year and the capital, Caracas, is thought to be one of the most dangerous cities in Latin America.
I would tend to think this massive rate of homicides is due, for the most part on a failed political system, which has reached the point of survival of the fittest. Does anyone think all will be quiet because of this law, or should we buy stock in the machete making business? Elections are in October, and I beg you to watch what socialism has brought to a country near you. Is America next? What do you think?
