Long memories are Hillary Clinton’s worst enemy.
On Saturday, Donald Trump posted a note to Twitter informing the interested that he had no intention of defending Obama against claims that there was something shady about his oh-so-obvious, deeply-held, Christian faith.
Said Trump: “Am I morally obligated to defend the president every time somebody says something bad or controversial about him? I don’t think so!”
Of course, the Donald is right, and you probably read the boss’s breakdown of why this whole non-story is ridiculous, but there are a couple of salient points to add. The first is that Obama is allegedly the most powerful man in the world. He should be able to defend himself. If he’s so thin-skinned that this bothers him, he can pipe up whenever he likes.
The second point is that, if any candidate owes him a defense or an apology, it’s certainly not Trump. It’s the person who originally cast doubt on his faith. That person’s name is Hillary Clinton – or, at the very least, her campaign. The entire “Obama’s not a Christian” thing started back in 2008, and it came directly from the Hillary machine.
