Here is a story that makes a person think. Was this home owner right in setting a trap? Waiting outside his home in hiding he was able to stop a burglary of his home which led to deadly consequences .
In an attempt to stop a string of burglaries at his mobile home, Stringer said Nathanial Johnson, 68, of Spurgeon Road set a trap.
Johnson parked his vehicle at a neighbor’s place on Friday night, went back to his home and waited.
Sometime before midnight, Johnson told sheriff’s deputies he heard someone knock on the front door of his home. When he didn’t answer, the person went to the backdoor and broke the lock.
Johnson told police he met the burglar, identified as Cleveland Jones Gully, 31, at the door and chased him outside.
It is quite a shame that a man lost his life in such a manner, but he truly brought it upon himself to commit a crime at the wrong time and at the wrong place. An autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death, but that’s neither here or there, the home owner was protecting his property, and only goes to show you a gun is not always the final answer, for Mr. Johnson does not own a gun.
I tend to think no criminal charges should be filed against Johnson, What do you thin
