(Scroll down for video) A teenage girl is in critical condition after her scalp was ripped off while riding a go-kart without a helmet or securing her long blond hair, doctors in Poland said.
The 17-year-old girl identified as Patrycja of Augustow, let her hair grow since she was 14 years old in order to donate some locks to children with cancer.
This week, she got a ride on a go-kart, but she did not wear a helmet or roll up her hair. At some point during the ride, her long blond hair got stuck in the engine.
The force ripped off her scalp. She was taken to a hospital, where she underwent surgery, but her condition remains serious.
According to the police investigation, the owner of the ride, who was identified as Gregorz, did to keep a first aid kit on the premises.
When Gregorz saw what happened to the girl, he did not even call an ambulance. A couple who was riding a go-kart, stopped to help the girl and called for help.
Others have accused Gregorz of being drunk at the time.
Gregorz is facing a charge of causing grievous bodily harm for not urging the girl to secure her hair. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
