House Votes to Officially Condemn Obama for Bowe Bergdahl Swap
The Republican-led House of Representatives has officially voted to condemn President Obama for the swap of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl for five detainees in Guantanamo Bay.
According to Politico, the House voted 249-163 in favor of this resolution, with 22 Democrats joining Republicans in voting yes. The text of the resolution reads that the House “condemns and disapproves of the Obama administration’s failure to comply with the lawful 30-day statutory reporting requirement in executing the transfer of five senior Taliban members from detention at U.S. Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.”
Obama had gotten criticism from all over the place about the Bergdahl swap, and even Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel admitted “trust has been broken” between the White House and Congress over pulling the trigger without letting Congress know about the swap first.
